All hail our comander and chief...

Quote of the day...

“President Obama was awfully vague about some of his plans, but I think I heard him say that government is responsible for educating a child from birth—from birth—to its first job.

February 22, 2009
I can't wait to hear the MADD comments

Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm is proposing big changes in the state's liquor laws that could produce more than $13 million for the state's cash-strapped budget.

Granholm's proposal includes keeping bars open until 4 a.m. and having liquor sold on Sunday mornings.

The Crisis of Credit Visualized

Here's are two "must see" videos that explain what is happening in our credit crisis. They are well worth watching

Part 1 is 7 1/2 minutes

Part 2 is 3 3/4 minutes

bump bump bump what was that? oh, that was Kyrgyzstan

Russia one, USA zero

The new administration just got an object lesson in power politics, and now has given Russia control over the supply lines to the biggest effort in the war on terror. Just when Barack Obama announced an increase in troop levels in Afghanistan, the Kyrgyz parliament almost unanimously backed President Bakiyev’s decision to evict the US out of Manas AFB, a key part of our lines of communication into Afghanistan.

This should have been an easy move for the Obama administration...A child could have seen this coming. After Putin played the card two weeks ago, the Obama administration still could have responded by upping the ante. Instead, for some reason, Obama sat on his hands and allowed himself to get punked by Putin

Capitol One -- is NOT in my wallet!

Is Capitol One as stupid as Bank of America?

Beverly, who always pays on time and recently started paying off her balance in full every month, just saw the rate on her Capital One card more than double, from 13.9% to 29.4%. That'll teach you to not help sink the economy, Beverly!

Beverly is closing her account. Good for her!

Bank of America credit card APR is 91.29%

David's effective APR on his Bank of America credit card is now 91.29%. It's not a typo or a scam, it's math.

"This was my first credit card and I've had it since 1997," writes David. "I only keep it for the history and I only use it every now and then as a backup. Am I reading this right that they bumped me up to a 91.29% APR?"

The tax man taxes taxes!

Gov. David Paterson's proposals to tax non-diet soda, iTunes downloads and even haircuts are well known by now. But did you know he wants to tax your tax filings, too?

Tucked into the governor's 2009-2010 budget proposal is a plan to levy a $10 fee for income taxes that are filed on paper rather than electronically. State budget officials believe the paper filing fee could generate $6.8 million during the next fiscal year.

Not one member of Congress read Obama's bailout boondoggle

I feel a bit sick right now...

“If all of that wasn’t enough, here I have, 1,100 pages, not one member of this body has read. Not one. There may be a staffer in the appropriations committee that read all of this last night. I don’t know how you can read 1,100 pages between midnight and now. Not one member’s read this...

...our ideas weren’t considered. We weren’t allowed in the room. We weren’t allowed to participate at all. And all the talk about bipartisanship that we have heard over the last several months went down the drain.

This is what I call bi-partisanism "thrown under the bus!"

Knowing and Making: Stimulus for bloggers

Before it's too late and the Senate bill passes, I'd like to make a pitch on behalf of all hard-working bloggers out there: let's see some of that stimulus program come to those who really deserve it. Us.
